Christmas Memories revealed at Open Archives Night

Christmas Memories from the early 20th Century feature in a new video.

Between about 1996 and 2003, The Littleport Society made audio recordings of interviews with many residents of the village. These recordings are now being digitised, allowing us to hear the memories of (amongst other things) childhood Christmases during the first half of the 20th century.

Christmas Memories – a new video from The Littleport Society.

On 6th December, at The Littleport Society Open Archives evening, a selection of archive recordings of Eileen Gill (former teacher, and former Society President), Jack Lee, and Irene Nicholas, were shared as part of a new collection titled ‘Christmas Memories’. Their voices were accompanied by Christmas imagery.

Whilst these residents are sadly no longer with us, their memories of Christmas in another time can live on.

Our work continues to digitise our collection of audio recordings.
