A Dickensian Evening

Archival footage of a 1980’s ‘Dickensian’ themed evening features in our new Christmas video.

Amongst the artefacts held at our archive at The Barn, are a collection of video tapes, which contain a wonderful audio visual treat of how Littleport used to be.

One such tape – a small camcorder cassette – features some footage of a ‘Dickensian’ themed evening that took place in Main Street in Littleport, Cambridgeshire, during a Christmas time in the 1980s. This has now been digitised, and we’re delighted to share it with you.

‘A Dickensian Evening’ takes us back to Christmas time in Littleport during the 1980s.

Revealed at our Open Archives Evening at The Barn, Littleport, on 6th December alongside our ‘Christmas Memories’ video, ‘A Dickensian Evening’ is an edit of various clips recorded during an evening in the 1980s when Littleport was transported back to the Victorian era – complete with roasted chestnuts, the ghost of Christmas past, Scrooge, and of course Father Christmas.
