Thomas Peacock and Hope Brothers book published

New book ‘A Wonderful Man’ by author Maureen Scott, has been published by The Littleport Society.

We’re delighted to announce that the life of Littleport’s very own Thomas Peacock – the founder of Hope Brothers Ltd – has been turned into a new book which is now available to buy.

The book, written by our Archivist, Maureen Scott, details the early family life of Thomas Peacock, and his career with Robert Sayle. It follows his success, which saw his business open shops around the country and becoming a major employer in Littleport for hundreds of women at his purpose built factory. Thomas Peacock’s legacy lives on in Littleport today.

The book, carefully researched over many years by author and former employee Maureen, is available in paperback, A4 in size, with 48 pages, and includes a range of photographs from Thomas Peacock’s life and the evolution of his factory from a busy production house, to Burberrys’ trench coat making years, and its conversion into the flats we know today.

Copies can be purchased from our Archive at The Barn, from our bookstall at our free Events, or in our online shop (UK only).
