This month, our Librarian Peter Harley has chosen the Item of the Month as a neolithic arrow or spear head.

A Neolithic flint arrowhead found near Brandon Creek.

This worked flint, estimated at between 5,000 – 6,000 years old, was found on land near Brandon Creek, and was donated to the Society’s archive.

Whilst this beautifully made item would have been lethal to anything that entered its path, it is small – measuring just 2 inches long and 1.25 inches at its widest point (5cm x 3.1cm).

This small but important item is lucky to have been found, and we’re very grateful to the item’s donor for giving it to us.
