Description
Norman C. Field‘s ‘Silent Films To Talkies – A History Of The Empire Cinema, Littleport‘ takes us back to the last time Littleport didn’t have a cinema – the 1900s.
Here, Norman recalls his father’s interest in film as a projectionist and the efforts to bring cinema to Littleport’s Constitutional Hall as ‘The Electric Cinema’ in 1913.
This book includes memories from the author’s brother Harold Field, illustrations by the author and Kim Prior, as well as advertisements for the Littleport cinema. It sheds a (flickering) light upon Littleport’s relationship with film, and the memories of ‘the chicken run’ – the Empire Cinema.
